Upcoming Classes

Making Seasonal Chutneys with Kimberly Loeb
$35 plus $30 supplies fee

Chutneys are an important accent to Vedic cuisine. They are made with a variety of ingredients, from dhals and nuts to coconut and tamarind. Much like pickles, chutneys are a condiment that will enliven any meal.  In this class, we will explore the art of making strawberry chutney while learning Vedic mantras and mudras. We will learn about the six seasons and the important role they play in Ayurveda, as well as the tools and techniques necessary to create your own delicious and healthful chutneys at home. Take-home mantra CDs, recipes and samples will be provided.

Ayurveda and the Sacred Art of Mehendi with Kimberly Loeb
$35 plus $30 supplies fee

Mehendi is the art of applying sacred “Yantras” or designs onto the hands and feet with a paste made from the powdered leaves of the Henna plant. Once the paste is applied, it is left on the skin for 6-8 hours and, when it is washed off, it leaves behind a beautiful, dark burgundy stain that lasts 1-2 weeks. As the Henna paste dries and it’s dying properties sink into the skin, it carries with it the sacred blessings and intentions of the Yantras that have been applied, infusing them deep into the soul.

In this workshop, we will explore the ancient art of Mehendi while learning about the philosophy and practice of Ayurveda and Sadhana (the art of cultivating consciousness and inner knowledge through all we do). Take-home Mehendi kits and Mantra CDs will be provided and include: 100g henna powder, one applicator bottle with metal tip specifically for Mehendi application, body glitter, and Swavorski Crystals.

REIKI I & II taught by Jewl Petteway
Reiki is an energy healing technique originating in Japan. Reiki means "universal life force energy". This gentle hands-on healing has been shown to benefit many emotional and physical diseases, and is safe for everyone. Reiki is an excellent choice for those who cannot receive massage, and is a great addition for those receiving regular massage.

Jewl is a Reiki Master Level practitioner & teacher. She received her Reiki 1 certification from Barbara McDaniel who studied under Phyllis Furumoto (the daughter of the founder of Reiki in the west). Her level 2 and 3 were given by Christy DeArment Martin of Nederland, CO.

There are many styles of Reiki. Some styles deal with the chakras, others with Angels or spirit guides. Jewl's training is the Usui Shiki Ryoho system. In these workshops, you will learn this style of Reiki includes laying the hands on and acting as a channel for healing energy, using symbols, as well as chakra balancing, and aura clearing. The theory is that Reiki helps the body to accelerate the healing process, therefore not being a cure, but a facilitator for the body's natural healing abilities.

Making Seasonal Masalas with Kimberly Loeb (coming in August)

Learn to blend Ayurvedic masala (a mixture of spices) in the Wise Earth Tradition. More than just an accent to foods, masala invigorates the digestive fluids and strengthens the life force, rejuvenating body, mind and spirit.

Ayurveda and Asana with Kimberly Loeb & Jessica Stone Baker
Meaning “science of life”, Ayurveda is a vast system of preventative and curative healing that comes from the ancient scriptures of India, dating to about B.C. 1500. According to Ayurveda, everything in the universe is made up of five elements: air, ether, fire, water and earth, all of which are pervaded by breath. Together, these elements make up who and what we are. Essentially, Ayurveda teaches us that “human nature” is nature. We are, very simply, a reflection of the natural world and our surroundings.

There is an organic, harmonious balance that exists between the elements within our bodies, however, sometimes they become unbalanced due to illness, poor diet and lifestyle choices, and stress. In this workshop, we will learn how the five elements present themselves in the body, mind and spirit through the doshas (physiological forces which are often referred to as “Ayurvedic body types”), as well as how and why they become unbalanced. Through the integration of conscious breathing and movement, we will explore how the practice of Yoga can be used to restore and maintain balance in order to cultivate a graceful body, centered mind, radiant spirit, and life of sustained optimum health.

Ayurveda and Marma

In this afternoon workshop, we will practice the integration of conscious breathing and movement through Yoga as we explore the energetics of Ayurveda through marma points and self massage. Explore the ancient art of Ayurveda while learning self massage and marmatherapy for specific conditions. Integrating self care and cooking suggestions into our exploration, we will work to restore and maintain balance in ourselves and one another through mindful breathing, conscious movement and loving touch.
